Jesús Peiró-Palomino (University of Valencia) will be the speaker of the talk “Social progress in the EU regions: Implications for the Regional Cohesion Policy” that will take place on the 22nd of June 2023 at 12.00pm CET.
The presentation offers an overview of different research works in which the European Social Progress Index (EU-SPI) is used to show the impact of using a social progress index for policymaking in the European Cohesion Policy framework. AS GDP per capita has been largely criticized as a measure of social development and well-being, the EU-SPI might provide a more comprehensive perspective on a variety of non-economic dimensions of social progress.
